CoPT invites EoIs to develop SEZs

12/08/2009 3:49:00 PM

Kochi, Dec (EPC News): The Cochin Port Trust (CoPT) has invited expressions of interest (EoIs) from infrastructure developers to develop special economic zones, free trade warehousing zones and industrial clusters/logistics parks in Vallarpadam and Puthuvypeen .

The last date for submission of the EoIs is December 14.

CoPT is developing a 286-hectare port-based SEZ in Puthuvypeen and a 115.25-hectare one in Vallarpadam. The international container transhipment terminal (ICTT), at Vallarpadam, is almost complete.

An LNG re-gassification terminal, promoted by Petronet LNG Ltd, is expected to be operational by December 2011 in the Puthuvypeen SEZ.

The Port authorities now propose to develop about 23 hectares of land at the northern side of the Goshree Road, adjacent to the ICTT, as a FTWZ/ industrial cluster/logistics park in association with competent co-developers.

This area has already secured the approval of the Union government for development as a SEZ. The co-developer will be given land for a 30-year lease period.
